Frequently asked questions

Which FortiGate model do I need?

It depends on the number of users, the internet bandwidth and the services you use (VPN, web filtering, IPS). A small office is usually fine with a 40F–70G, a business with 50–150 users with a 90G–120G. We help you choose for free.

What is the difference between UTP and Enterprise?

UTP includes IPS, antivirus, application control, web and DNS filtering, antispam and FortiCare Premium support. Enterprise adds AI-based inline malware prevention, data loss prevention (DLP), IoT security, Security Rating and FortiConverter.

Does FortiGate work without a licence?

Yes – the firewall, VPN and SD-WAN work without a FortiGuard subscription. Without a licence, however, threat intelligence (IPS, antivirus, web filtering) is not updated and vendor support and hardware replacement are not available.

For how long can I buy a licence?

FortiGuard and FortiCare licences are available for 1, 3 or 5 years. Longer terms are cheaper per year. The licence is bound to the serial number of the appliance.

Can you configure an existing FortiGate?

Yes. We configure, update and audit FortiGates bought earlier and renew their licences.

How fast is delivery?

Common models are usually available within 1–2 weeks. You get the exact lead time and price in our offer.
