FortiSwitch – switches managed by your FortiGate

Managed L2/L3 switches from the office to the data centre. With FortiLink every port becomes part of your FortiGate: VLANs, PoE and security policies from one interface. We choose the models, rack them and configure the whole network.

Why FortiSwitch?

FortiSwitch is built to work with FortiGate. Your firewall becomes the control centre of the whole network – no switch to configure or monitor separately.

FortiLink management

Switches appear in the FortiGate interface: VLANs, ports and firmware updates in one place, without separate management software.

PoE and PoE++

Power Wi-Fi access points, IP cameras and phones straight from the switch – up to 90 W per port and 1800 W in total.

Port-level security

FortiGate security policies reach the LAN: 802.1X, device detection (NAC) and automatic quarantine of an infected device.

Multi-Gig for Wi-Fi 7

2.5G and 5G ports plus 10G, 25G and 100G uplinks – enough bandwidth for new access points and servers.

MACsec encryption

The 300 and 600 series and the 1048G encrypt traffic between switches at the link level.

Grows with your business

From a desktop switch in a small office to 100G data-centre switches – same management and same policies across the network.

How we work

We plan the network as a whole – switches, firewall and Wi-Fi together.

  1. 01

    Network survey

We count devices, PoE needs and cabling and choose port counts and uplinks with headroom.

  2. 02

    Delivery

We order the switches, SFP modules and FortiCare support and register them to your company.

  3. 03

    Installation and setup

Racking, FortiLink, VLANs, PoE, 802.1X and documentation.

  4. 04

    Maintenance

Firmware updates, monitoring and fast help with faults – in Estonian, English and Russian.

Frequently asked questions

Does FortiSwitch work without a FortiGate?

Yes, FortiSwitch can be used as a standalone managed switch through its web interface. It brings the most value with a FortiGate, though, where the whole network is managed from one place over FortiLink.

How many PoE ports and how much power do I need?

A Wi-Fi 6/7 access point usually needs 15–30 W, an IP camera 5–15 W and a phone up to 7 W. We add up the devices and choose a switch with headroom in its PoE budget.

What is the difference between PoE+ and PoE++?

PoE+ (802.3at) delivers up to 30 W per port, PoE++ (802.3bt) up to 60–90 W. PoE++ is needed for powerful Wi-Fi 7 access points, PTZ cameras and other high-draw devices.

Do I need Multi-Gig ports?

If you install Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7 access points, yes – they exceed 1 Gbps. The 300 and 600 series with 2.5G and 5G ports and the 124G with 2.5G ports fit that need.

Does FortiSwitch need a licence?

Not for its core features when managed by FortiGate. FortiCare support is recommended for firmware updates and hardware replacement.

Can you migrate our existing network?

Yes. We plan the migration to keep downtime minimal and move VLANs and settings to the new switches.
